About This Object

A rare large sasaho-style yari (leaf-shaped spearhead) of the late Muromachi period, signed by Yamato kami Fujiwara Nobusada of Hōshū Kokura. The wide, stout form with masame-hada and shirake utsuri recalls the Yamato tradition at a glance. Large sasaho yari of this size are uncommon and considered particularly desirable.
