About This Object
A Gendaitō tachi by Gassan Sadakatsu, son of the first-generation Gassan Sadakazu, forged in March 1937. Sadakatsu produced swords as a substitute for his father in his later years, and went on to craft swords for the Imperial Family and dedicatory swords for Ise Shrine. He mastered the Ayasugi-hada inherited from the Gassan tradition.
