About This Armor Type

The tōsei-gusoku (当世具足, "modern equipment") is the armor of the late Muromachi, Azuchi–Momoyama, and Edo periods — the armor most associated with the great daimyō of the unification era. It uses solid or banded iron plates (a nimai-dō, gomai-dō, or mogami-dō) laced in close-set kebiki-odoshi, a close-fitting dō, compact sode, and a kabuto often fitted with a maedate (frontal crest) and a mempō (face mask). It reflects the demands of massed infantry and matchlock warfare, and later the ceremonial display of the Edo peace.

Where information cannot be established from the available photographs or sources, this record states "Unknown" or "Not specified by the manufacturer" rather than inferring detail. Historical attribution is not automatically equated with vendor marketing claims.
