About This Armor Type

The dō-maru (胴丸, "round body") emerged in the late Heian and flourished through the Kamakura and Muromachi periods as a tighter-fitting cuirass suited to infantry and lower-ranking warriors. Built of the same laced kozane as the ō-yoroi, it wraps fully around the body and opens under the right arm, trading the box-like mass of the ō-yoroi for greater mobility. Its lighter sode and closer-fitting shikoro reflect the shift toward fighting on foot.

Where information cannot be established from the available photographs or sources, this record states "Unknown" or "Not specified by the manufacturer" rather than inferring detail. Historical attribution is not automatically equated with vendor marketing claims.
